Created by Cut Communications, the video shows how beauty and style have changed during the years in Iran. There is a strong message on how social and political  status is so strongly reflected in women’s behavior and clothes.

For example the 1920s was when women started going to university for the first time, and this level of independence is reflected in the emerging style (compared to the more natural 1910s). In the 40s they were looking up to actresses from the time and therefore resembled their hairstyle and make up, whereas after the 1978 Revolution , women were covered by the hijab. It is an interesting and different way to look at a country’s history.

Enjoy!
